At the beginning of your visit, Dr. Hynes will ask about:
During this stage of the eye exam, Dr. Hynes will have you do a visual acuity exam. Her goal is to measure how clearly each of your eyes can see. From this portion of the eye exam, you’ll learn what type of vision you have, such as 20/20, 20/40, etc.
During preliminary tests, Dr. Hynes will evaluate aspects of your vision and eye health, such as:
During a refraction test, Dr. Hynes will put an instrument called a phoropter in front of your eyes in order to determine what lens strength will best correct your refractive problems, such as farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism. The phoropter is made up of a series of lenses that she will change as you look through it.
During these tests, Dr. Hynes will assess how well your eyes focus, work together, and move. If she finds anything that is preventing your eyes from excelling in any of these areas, she will discuss with you.
During this portion of a comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Hynes will discuss her findings with you. If applicable, you’ll go over possible treatment options together.
